My Journey Home

 Something Wicked This Way Comes

If any of you all were in band and had to play this song, I share in your pain. I remember it always made my jaw hurt and I had a great embachre!

Here's holding my breath that I can get through another week with Evil One. Whenever she approaches me or I have to go to her (which is avoided at all costs!), this song flits through my head like I'm in a bad movie.

Anyway, it's also in tribute to my private Harry Potter marathon I had last night and to that The Goblet of Fire is out on DVD a week from tomorrow. For Ken's sake, I pre-ordered us a copy.

Those that know me probably think I'm out of my mind because I resisted the lure of Harry Potter for so long. I didn't start reading the books until about 6 months ago and it was only because Meg sat on me, glued my eyelids open and made me watch The Sorcerer's Stone (not really, but it makes the story more fun). Anyway, it wasn't bad and I got hooked. Not so hooked that I actually read the books - that what Book on CD is for right now. I'm 3 disks away from being done with Book 4 and Book 5 is ready and waiting.

To glimpse why I resisted and to pass on some seasoned advice: NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER offer to be a screener for a friend in your writing comprehensive in college that says "my project is a reappropriation of the Harry Potter novels". I had never read a Harry Potter book before and God bless her, her stories were so bad I just couldn't bring myself to such extended torture and by having to pay for it on top of it all! I wouldn't listen to the Potter lovers that her story was nothing like it, until the Meg sitting on me gluing my eyelids open scenerio. Thanks Meg...you've shown me the light!

So, I've picked up this stomach bug and for the first time, I don't think it's related to the nerves or ulcer. I think I just have the flu. Probably should go home, but there's always tons to do!

Here's hoping everyone has a fantastic (or tolerable) week.

Countdown: 28 days!

 Indiana Wants Me Part IV

Here's a music clip. It's to the album as sold on Amazon, it has a verse and part of the chorus. I think it will help set off some bells in everyone's mind. Select Indiana Wants Me for a good listen! Enjoy!

 Indiana Wants Me...Part III

Ok, so I'm starting to feel unoriginal here, but I just have to believe that I am not the only one that remembers the #1 hit Indiana Wants Me in 1971 (I wasn't even born yet by the way!) Follow the link I'm providing here:

http://rdeantaylor.com/Pages/Indiana/indiana.1.html

for more information on the song. It's interesting and you would be well advised to request the song be played by the local oldies station.

Oh, wait! Indianapolis doesn't have an oldies channel anymore! That JACK FM crap took over! No wonder no one has heard this song!

Well, another crappy day. I have a claim that the lender is way out of control on. I'm hoping that I can get through it so that it doesn't ruin my weekend. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the person I have to go to for counsel's door opens soon so I can get this taken care of.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Take care and I'll be home to see you all soon!

 Indiana Wants Me...Part II

Ok, so it's another wonderful day here in rainy Florida. Countdown to return is 33 days (if we leave March 27, 2006). March 6, 2006 is goal date for notice and March 24, 2006 is goal date for final suffering. The goal dates keep me going.

Not much going on here. My TV show of the moment is Without a Trace. It's pretty good, but doesn't quite have that hook like DC. I've obtained the first season of DC and am working on the rest. You gotta love e-bay. Also, I watched Rent last night. I was a bit disappointed. I knew all the music (especially "Christmas Bells are Ringing" thanks to Ms. Courtenay!). I still love the music, but I wasn't engaged in the story like I thought I would. It was slow going and took a long time to get into it. I'm sure this is just because it's the movie version of a musical. Musicals are always better on Broadway.

Mr. Leo is still chewing a hole in his leg. I wish I knew how to help him out. I've been trying a massage technique the vet told me to to relax him. (insert image of Mr. Boo on a massage table getting oiled up and ready to have the knots caused by his stressful life relieved of him) He stops while he's getting his swedish massage, but as soon as I stop, he's off in the corner of the couch chewing on his leg. I've tried wrapping it, but he just pulls it all off - even the duct tape I put over the sports tape. If anyone has suggestions, I'm all for it.

Not much new news here. I'm including the Indiana Wants Me lyrics today because Ken swears he's never heard it. It's only the best song from the 1971 songbook ever. To add a piece of useless knowledge (and boost you're Trivial Pursuit prowess), at the end of the original recording, it had police sirens and a cop on the bullhorn. It had to be removed from the radio version because too many people thought they were getting pulled over and would frantically pull off the side of the road and cause wrecks and other traffic problems.

Enjoy as always.

"Indiana Wants Me"

(As recorded by R. Dean Taylor)

Mmmm, mmmm

Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there
I wish I had you, to talk to

If a man ever needed dyin' he did
No one had the right to say what he said about you
And it's so cold and lonely here without you
Out there the laws are coming
I'm scared and so tired of running

Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there
I wish I had you, to talk to

It hurts to see the man that I've become
And to know I'll never see the morning sunshine on the land
I'll never see your smiling face, or touch your hand
If just once more I could see
You, our home, and our little baby

Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there, oh

I wish I had you, to talk to

I hope this letter finds its way to you
Forgive me love for the shame I put you through
And all the tears
Hang on love to the memories of those happy years
Red lights are flashin' around me
Yea love it looks like they found me

Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there
I wish I had you, to talk to

Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there
("This is the police, you are surrounded, give yourself up")
Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there
("This is the police, give yourself up, you are surrounded")

On the Banks of the Wabash

Check out my beautiful state!
http://www.50states.com/indiana.htm

Anyway, I'm having a hard time keeping things status quo around here. I want to shout my news from rooftops, wail the Johnny Paycheck song and have it out. But, I never burn my bridges either. This is the smallest big industry ever. I have to keep my mouth shut for another two weeks also. That's the tough part.

So, I'm trying to keep plugging away. At least now, even if it's another shitty day in paradise (or hell as Michelle reminds me), there is that light at the end of the tunnel. I don't know yet if it's the fresh air to meet me or the front end of a train, but either way, it will get me home.

In the meantime, let's wallow in Indiana shall we. The best state ever, no other place I'd want to be.

As follows, in keeping with the "theme", is the Indiana state song. Don't know why it's our state song (I like Back Home Again in Indiana better), but that's how it is. Enjoy.

On the Banks of the Wabash, Far Away
Written by Paul Dresser
Composed by Paul Dresser

'Round my Indiana homesteads wave the cornfields,
In the distance loom the woodlands clear and cool.
Oftentimes my thoughts revert to scenes of childhood,
Where I first received my lessons, nature's school.
But one thing there is missing in the picture,
Without her face it seems so incomplete.
I long to see my mother in the doorway,
As she stood there years ago, her boy to greet.

[CHORUS]

Oh, the moonlight's fair tonight along the Wabash,
From the fields there comes the breath of newmown hay.
Through the sycamores the candle lights are gleaming,
On the banks of the Wabash, far away.

Many years have passed since I strolled by the river,
Arm in arm, with sweetheart Mary by my side,
It was there I tried to tell her that I loved her,
It was there I begged of her to be my bride.
Long years have passed since I strolled thro' there churchyard.
She's sleeping there, my angel, Mary dear,
I loved her, but she thought I didn't mean it,
Still I'd give my future were she only here.
